About Susan
Since serving on the Brooklyn Park City Council for the last 5 years, I’ve worked tirelessly with residents, our other council members, city staff, community stakeholders, and organizations. I’m proud of the work we have accomplished together.
Together we have:
- Built a stronger local economy and supported small businesses to thrive
- Created over 1000+ new jobs in our city with livable wages
- Grown our tax base with commercial development and reduced our resident’s tax burden
- Successfully attained millions of dollars in state and federal funds for transportation and infrastructure investment in our city
- Increased the diversity of our housing stock, supported naturally occurring affordable housing, and added new developments of senior housing in our city
- Improved community and police relations and created safer neighborhoods
- Partnered with local businesses to offer paid summer internships and create more employment opportunities for our youth
- Added sustainable youth programming and expanded access to youth sports
- Revitalized our parks, increased trails and connections, and leveraged outside funding and grants to invest in our park system

- Married 28 years with 4 children and a new daughter-in-law
- Actively served and volunteered in Brooklyn Park for over 15 years.
- I’m a published Author of 2 books
- I love to mentor young girls, have done it for a long time, and continue to because they inspire me
- I love organic vegetable gardening, camping with my family, and baking with my girls.
