About Susan

As your State Senator, I’m committed to uplifting your voice at the table and working side-by-side for solutions where we all can thrive — not just survive.

I want to continue working with you and for you. That’s why I’m running for re-election to serve District 38.

Since serving on the Brooklyn Park City Council for the last 5 years, I’ve worked tirelessly with residents, our other council members, city staff, community stakeholders, and organizations. I’m proud of the work we have accomplished together.
Together we have:
  • Built a stronger local economy and supported small businesses to thrive
  • Created over 1000+ new jobs in our city with livable wages
  • Grown our tax base with commercial development and reduced our resident’s tax burden
  • Successfully attained millions of dollars in state and federal funds for transportation and infrastructure investment in our city
  • Increased the diversity of our housing stock, supported naturally occurring affordable housing, and added new developments of senior housing in our city
  • Improved community and police relations and created safer neighborhoods
  • Partnered with local businesses to offer paid summer internships and create more employment opportunities for our youth
  • Added sustainable youth programming and expanded access to youth sports
  • Revitalized our parks, increased trails and connections, and leveraged outside funding and grants to invest in our park system
A few things so you can get to know me…
  • Married 28 years with 4 children and a new daughter-in-law
  • Actively served and volunteered in Brooklyn Park for over 15 years.
  • I’m a published Author of 2 books
  • I love to mentor young girls, have done it for a long time, and continue to because they inspire me
